CREATING A HOME WE LOVE, ONE DIY PROJECT AT A TIME!

Meet the Gobles

Meet Allison & Jay Goble
Hey y’all, we’re the Gobles! A husband and wife team from Kentucky who tackle DIY projects, road trips, yard work, and anything else life throws at us, one project at a time.

Meet Allison Goble
I’m Allison Goble, the “Project Manager” of Project Goble, attempting to keep our projects on schedule and on budget! I’m also the owner of Allison LeAnn Design, my graphic design company where I specialize in creating custom wedding invitations and printable wall art. {Make sure to check out my Etsy shop!} Although I’m always finding something fun and creative to fill up my free time, I work full time during the weekdays as the Director of Marketing for a local community and technical college AND I’m currently taking Western Kentucky University graduate classes for a Masters of Business Administration. I’m a true believer in higher education and LOVE to learn!

Meet Jay Goble
I’m Jay Goble, the “Project Laborer” of Project Goble (ok, I can’t take ALL the credit, Allison helps out too!). During the day I work full-time for Norfolk Southern Railroad as a carman doing freight car repair. In my free time I enjoy tackling DIY projects around our house and playing basketball. I don’t claim to be a professional (at neither DIY nor basketball) but I’m definitely learning as we go. (It also gives me an “excuse” to add to my power tool collection, which we are always putting to good use!) I also enjoy fixin’ up some smokin’ good barbecue. It can be a challenge that takes a long time, but the results are quite tasty!

Meet Allison & Jay Goble from ProjectGoble.com
We met in 2008 and dated for almost two years. On September 25, 2010 we “tied the knot” and it has been an amazing adventure ever since!

Our first place together was a tiny two-bedroom upstairs apartment. It didn’t take us long to realize we were not happy spending our hard earned money toward a space we would never call our own, where couldn’t paint our paper thin walls, had less than two feet of usable kitchen counterspace, and weren’t even allowed to grill out on our balcony. (We may have broken this rule a time to two.. shh!)

After six long months of serious house hunting with our realtor, we finally found “the one” and in June 2011 we became first-time homeowners! {Click here to take a tour of our Kentucky Home} We immediately began our DIY adventures (and frequent trips to Lowe’s) to help make our builder grade house feel more like HOME. Some have been small tasks, while others have taken a bit more elbow grease. We’ve even had to call in “backup” a few times (aka the in-laws: “Mom & Dad Goble” and “Mom & Dad Stanley”).

So far, we are more than pleased with our progress and are still FULL of ideas! Over time our to-do list continues to get longer and longer. We’ve enjoyed documenting each of our projects and adventures as we’ve completed them to share with our families and are even more excited about the ones we have yet to start. {Here is a list of our completed to-do items and a list of future plans}

This blog is just another project we can work on TOGETHER as a couple and use to share details and photos with our family, friends, and anyone else who may want to follow along. Hopefully sharing our attempts and adventures can encourage you (and others) to not only try DIY projects, but to spend time doing them together as a couple, or with a family member or friend.

We hope you enjoy hanging out here with us and we can’t wait to share more of our DIY attempts and adventures with you… one project at a time!

  3. Hello!

    I’m so happy I happened to come across your blog! (I followed a Pin about your kitchen re-do.) I’m single, and older than the two of you, but am attempting some DIY projects myself! (I think I can, I think I can!!! [pant, pant]) I haven’t really started my blog yet, because as technically savvy as I consider myself to be, the whole hosting, serving, domain-ing, thing has me a bit discombobulated. I’m working on it…

    I look forward to seeing what else you two have on here as I browse around.

    PS – Love the kitchen, BTW! Looks gorgeous!
